Agriculture in Rwanda

Agriculture is the main economic activity for the people of  Rwanda, providing emplyment to about 86% of the total population. It contributes 47% of Rwanda’s Domestic goods and exports.

As a way to achieve Vision 2020 and the Milenium goals to eradicate poverty, Rwanda has improved the agricultural sector by sensitising its citizens about farming techniques to increase productivity. This will help do wipe out poverty and improve the standards of living for every one.

Some of the achievements include the formation of cooperative societies in which farmers work together and are given education. Through education they have learnt modern farming methods, management and administration to manage their groups.
